Norton Builders Project 6

Embodying a distinct European influence through its grand entranceway and elegant arches, this graceful abode from Norton Builders required strategic layout adjustments, with the team amplifying and improving upon the home’s original design. Working with a north-facing, irregular-shaped large allotment, the team moved the pool to the home’s central courtyard, allowing the dwelling’s living areas to catch the glorious northern light. Enabling resort-style living at its finest, the pool’s infinity-edged spa is a stunning and functional addition to the entertaining space.

The irregular aspect of the block has been cleverly transformed into a beautifully landscaped social family hub featuring an arbor, benchseat and firepit. Norton Builders also improved upon the home’s outdoor living space by including an automated louvred roof and bi-fold window to enjoy warm summer nights under the stars. Evoking a timeless appeal, arched windows frequent the home, adding a welcome flood of natural light and views of the courtyard and pool, while fully automated window furnishings add a practical element to the stylish design.

The dwelling’s link was designed with scale and symmetry as paramount importance, to provide an extraordinary passage from the entry through to the living space. A refreshing monochromatic colour scheme featuring greys, whites, marble and timber creates a truly timeless palette.

Moving through to the home’s modern kitchen, a clean, cohesive line of sight makes the space appear truly seamless. Natural stone with elegant grey veining forms a beautiful splashback in the kitchen and is a feature to the fireplace. A brilliant Butler’s pantry encompasses a bar and obscures any large appliances from sight. Eye-catching pendant lighting creates an effortless ambience throughout the dining space, while sliding doors open out onto an alfresco dining space, promising outdoor living at its finest.

The expansive master bedroom is a true treat for the senses, with plush carpet underfoot, LED downlights, and a sliding barn door making way to an effortlessly regal en suite. Here, a freestanding bathtub looks out through a floor-to-ceiling window onto luscious blue waters, while a dual basin and polished stone flooring make the experience one of pure luxury. A pop of green through a beautiful plant is a refreshing touch to the space, further evoking the essence of an island escape. Nothing short of spectacular, the dwelling’s façade embodies and reflects the flowing arches featured throughout the home’s interior. A stone pathway leads all the way to the home’s grand front door and entranceway, while an array of roses and pristine landscaping only add to the air of grandeur.

Established in 1958 by brothers Ron and John Norton, Norton Builders built its first weatherboard home in the beachy streets of Parkdale. From 1985, second-generation builder David Norton took over the business, and to this day, he and his team continue to design and construct some of Melbourne’s most outstanding and aspiring homes. Since its inception, the company has successfully completed more than 1500 awe-inspiring projects, and completes approximately 20-30 of these impressive builds each year.

Servicing Melbourne’s Bayside area and its surrounding suburbs, the Norton Builders team specialises in creating quality classic and contemporary custom-designed homes, including large-scale renovations. Each home created by Norton Builders is able to meet clients’ individual needs and varied requests. The qualified team is heavily involved throughout the entire construction process, and prides itself on cultivating strong relationships with each of its customers, from conception through to completion.

A prime example of such dedication to quality, Norton Builders won the Housing Industry Association’s (HIA) Custom Home Design accolade in the $500,000-$700,000 category, and was also a finalist in 2012, 2014 and 2015 for Custom Home Design $500,000-$700,000, Custom Home up to $500,000 and Custom Home Design $350,000-$500,000 awards respectively. Norton Builders was also a runner up in 2013 for the Townhouse Development $750,000-$1.2 million category, as well as being the finalist in the Townhouse/Villa of the Year over $500,000 award.
