Norton Builders Project 13
SOPHISTICATED COASTAL CHARM
This latest project from Norton Builders is the epitome of a stunning family home built for lively entertainment with hints of classic sophistication. With its expansive design featuring a void at the rear of the house and masterful touches of light timber and grey accents, this project is centred on the idea of quiet luxury, while still accommodating for the increased need for functionality within a family home. The materials used set this project apart, with natural stone, timber features, profiled two pack joinery, and a weatherboard façade to accentuate the classic feel of the home.
The design is magnificently thoughtful, prioritising every member of the family in the build. The powder room serves as a tropical sanctuary – a much-needed peaceful retreat in a home built for entertainment and fun. The hints of gold and maximalist wallpaper offer enjoyable visual interest, while the mix of forest and sage green tiles create a serene atmosphere to promote calm and relaxation. The playful aesthetic is pleasantly unexpected, an expression of the client’s personality.
The backyard is every child’s dream – with a state-of-the-art half basketball court to re-live your hay day or practice your skills, and a beautifully tiled pool with a built-in spa to soak up the summer days. The open layout of the living room encourages family cohesion and design fluidity, with the kitchen design serving as the centrepiece in a masterclass of functional entertainment. The grey-veined island bench is the heart of the space, allowing ample room for seating and LED strip lighting to add impact and subtle drama. A subtle colour palette is used throughout the home, consisting of muted greens and greys, soft pinks and natural tones, creating a soothing sense of cohesion.
The team successfully navigated a range of challenges throughout the construction phase of the project. One of the most significant considerations was the presence of mature, existing trees, which were carefully preserved and integrated into the final design. In addition, the project placed a strong emphasis on sustainability from the outset. A key feature supporting this goal is the incorporation of double-glazed windows, which are designed to retain natural warmth within the building. This significantly reduces the need for artificial heating during the cold winter months, contributing to energy efficiency and lowering the building’s overall carbon footprint.
