Harkaway Homes Project 3

Harkaway Homes brings the best of the past into the present by reinventing the look and feel of Victorian and early Federation-style homes. With integrity of design, floor plans that are 100 percent flexible, and a highly regarded brand name, the company offers the charm and character of yesteryear with the conveniences of modern-day living.

Established in 1986, Harkaway Homes operates throughout Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, Canberra and southern Queensland. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, multiple Master Builders Association (MBA) awards and a reputation for excellence, Harkaway Homes is acknowledged as an industry leader in traditional Australian housing.

Harkaway Homes offers eight home styles to choose from. Each possessing old-world charm and perfect profiles, they can be built to the dimensions of 110m2 and up. Your choice of home will sit proudly on your inner-suburban block, established suburb, or acreage. With the choice of an adaptable floor plan, you have the ability to customise your home’s layout to suit your personal requirements, at no extra charge.

The most important factor in recreating traditional Australian homes is their height. With an exclusive high-wall system, Harkaway Homes can achieve old-fashioned exterior height without the impracticalities of overly high ceilings. Opt for the popular ceiling height of 2.7m, or to comfortably accommodate ornate cornices and ceiling rosettes a three-metre-high ceiling will work best.

Another important part of reproducing a traditional Australian home is the verandah. Harkaway Homes’ exclusive high-wall system will allow your verandah to be comfortably positioned next to the home. Correct falls and profiles are easily achieved by the team, who will ensure that your home maintains character, without sacrificing natural light. Harkaway Homes’ verandah options come in many shapes and sizes, and are a great way to customise your new home.

A Harkaway Home can be built using the project-managed method – wherein the project is registered to you as an owner-builder and all the work is performed by subcontractors – or the client can engage a licensed builder to lead the project. The majority of clients choose the project-managed option, which the company greatly encourages to maximise savings while maintaining a high-quality finish.
