The Little Brick Studio Project 2

Designed by The Little Brick Studio and constructed by Foundation Builders, this urban duplex exudes character and showcases a streamlined aesthetic. The recycled and rugged face bricks contrast with smooth metallic ALUCOBOND to create a visually striking façade.

The spacious residential block allowed the homeowners to subdivide the property and create a comfortable home for their young family, as well as a secondary dwelling that would serve as an investment property.

Capturing gorgeous bayside views, the family home’s upper-floor living area is ideal for socialising, while the ground floor comprises the open-plan kitchen and dining zone. With raised saw-tooth ceilings and highlight windows, the home’s design was carefully considered so that every living space would receive an abundance of natural light.

To accommodate the slope of the site, staggered floor levels were incorporated between the dwellings. By separating the properties at the rear, the designer and builder were able to create two centrally positioned, light-filled courts, which can be enjoyed by the occupants and their guests for many years to come.

Operating throughout Victoria, the company won numerous accolades in the 2017 Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV) Building Design Awards, including the People’s Choice Award in the Residential Design: New Houses $500,000 to $1 million category, as well as Most Innovative Bathroom Design. It also won Bathroom of the Year in the 2017 Housing Industry Association (HIA) Victorian Housing Awards.
