A MASTERPIECE IN TIMBER 

This exquisite, timber-clad project by SJG Building Group is the product of a design brief aimed to restore the characteristics of an old, bespoke beach house. With a predominantly natural timber construction, generous balconies and a flow from inside to out, the home becomes an incredibly warm and inviting testament to SJG Building Group’s work.

SJG Building Group achieved this by retaining the bones of the house and adding large outdoor living spaces that flow directly from the main living areas inside. Prioritising natural materials and an eco-friendly design, the house is fully electric, allowing the clients to use solar power and go off the grid in the future.

The clients wanted a house that they didn’t have to feel precious about with three young boys, so the spaces are designed to feel intimate and comfortable when the family is there by themselves but have the capacity to expand to accommodate overnight guests. To welcome guests, the spaces are designed with an intuitive neutrality that allows guests to feel right at home.
