Susan Merrifield of Mt Martha design + drafting worked alongside builder Travis Wilson from Saltwater Construction to bring this architectural masterpiece to fruition. Drawing inspiration from the Australian California bungalow, this 250-square-metre, three-bedroom residence boasts a modern twist, with a façade adorned in recycled red bricks and a painted weatherboard finish.

An open-plan family/kitchen/dining area is at the heart of the home, where timber oak floors invite warmth and elegance. Large bi-fold doors seamlessly connect the interior to a south-facing backyard, flooding the space with natural light. Strategically placed triangular windows capture the light, and the extended roof forms a stylish alfresco area over the rear deck.

This home balances the entertainment space with the practical needs of a growing family. The family room features a slow combustion fire heater on a raised concrete platform, complemented by a recycled red brick feature wall and extended hearth, creating a cosy focal point. Internal colour tones of whites and natural timber accents enhance the sense of modern sophistication.
