Located within the heart of Armadale, this stunning period-style terrace monopolises on a compact space, transforming it into a warm and liveable family home, and effortlessly fusing the best of both the traditional and modern. Designed by Rohan Riley and Kristy Roberts from RRID, and constructed by Melbourne Home Builders, it was imperative that the original features of the home were retained, and the abode’s striking façade be preserved in its original glory. To implement this, the layout of the home was cleverly reconfigured to make the best use of a small space in an ideal location.

Working closely with the homeowner throughout the entire process, Melbourne Home Builders transformed a single-level, two-bedroom house into a triple-level, reverse-living home – complete with a rooftop terrace on the home’s second level that offers captivating city views. Proudly showcasing the original features of the home; from oak engineered flooring to handcrafted doorknobs – that are even oiled by the homeowner herself – the dwelling also includes a custom metal stair balustrade, brimming with eye-catching opulence.

The dwelling’s original landscaping was also retained at the front of the property, while in the property’s rear courtyard, custom mesh panels were installed to allow creepers to grow throughout the space. Rusted metal planter boxes create effective visual contrast, and a simple lawn with an enormous concrete pot and mature tree make for an effective focal point of the rear courtyard.

Elegant arched hallways make a statement upon entering the dwelling, and the refreshing colour scheme brimming with shades of white encourages natural light flow. Moving upstairs to the home’s first floor, an expansive kitchen, living and dining area mesmerises with blue joinery, while graceful pendant lighting illuminates the space. Seeking the homeowner’s opinion and making changes along the way to ensure ultimate satisfaction, Melbourne Home Builders was able to execute a final product completely reflective of the unique personalities of the family residing.

Melbourne Home Builders is family-owned and -operated, founded by Rob and Wendy Wandaller back in 2008. Rob has been a registered builder for nearly 20 years, while Wendy has ample experience in finance and business, managing the company’s operations. Together as a team, this husband-and-wife duo build ‘forever homes’ for their valued clients, giving attention to detail and continually striving for the highest quality.
