McBuild Project 1
Dubbed as an ‘architectural delight’, this spectacular home was designed and built by Leigh McMillan, director of McBuild, for his own young family of four. Featuring a rustic-modern aesthetic and multiple entertaining areas, this is the perfect escape to come home to.
Venturing down a 100m-long driveway, this awe-inspiring dwelling is tucked away into the native bushland, providing a sense of privacy. Clad in a combination of weathered-grey Accoya timber and natural stone, the façade synthesizes with the surrounding environment. Dynamic steps traverse over the simple landscaping, which complements the encompassing Australian flora, leading up to the unmissable over-sized pivot door.
Situated in such a scenic location, McBuild designed the home with clever orientation to let in optimal amounts of sunlight, with large commercial windows installed throughout this spacious abode to bring the outside in. Accompanying the distinguished master bedroom, the en suite is truly the height of luxury – showcasing a freestanding tub that overlooks these beautiful views, plus a steam room, custom-designed mosaic tiles and a plush bench for relaxing.
The highly functional open-plan kitchen and living area boast a mix of contemporary and rustic elements, with clean white walls, sleek appliances and a feature-grade timber bulkhead and flooring. The vast island bench and roomy dining table are great for accommodating guests. Potential for entertaining extends to the outdoor lounge, fitted with a stone feature wall and fireplace, and a swimming pool and spa.
Backed by twenty years of industry experience, builder Leigh McMillan founded McBuild in 2008 with a vision to pursue unique and challenging projects in the residential sector, with a particular interest in both eco-friendly and sustainable projects. The talented team primarily operates across the Eastern Suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula.
McBuild continues to strive for customer satisfaction, communicating with its clients on all matters, including drawings, concept designs and engineering plans to achieve the best results. In December 2020, this stunning project will feature on Channel 9 Live’s Australia’s Best Homes.
