Sustainable to the core, this home is primarily built from Hempcrete, a biocomposite eco-friendly material with a high thermal mass. Rather than designing a home and tacking on sustainable features at the end, this home starts with its sustainability goals, building the whole home around this concept.

Built on a large block, this project makes good use of space, orienting towards the north to provide ample sunlight into the space and built with large, open-plan interiors.

The clients were looking for a builder who was willing to experiment with the alternative materials, namely hempcrete and work collaboratively with the client. Manna Gum Building did this flawlessly, enabling the client to be hands-on in the building process and have an active part in every stage. Overcoming all obstacles presented by the unique materials, Manna Gum Building were able to produce a stunning finished build that centres on the hempcrete material.
