The owners of this magnificent contemporary home wanted a space that would cater for their needs into retirement, with ample room for grandchildren and for entertaining among family and friends. Graeme Alexander Homes seamlessly brought this vision to life, crafting a functional home that effortlessly blends into its natural surroundings, all the while offering brilliant bay views.

Situated on a block of land that was subdivided off a larger block on the Mornington waterfront, the abode has convenient beach access, double glazing, hydronic heating, air conditioning, a lift, water tanks, solar panels and an indoor pool on. Its north-west orientation allows to capture the bay view, and, although the long skinny block was a challenge for the design build team, with the company having succeeded in offsetting its shape, allowing for transparency.

The major living spaces are all upstairs, including the living room with large picture windows that open onto an upper balcony that also accesses the dining space and flows onto the kitchen and scullery. Completing the upper floor are a large study, a bathroom, a powder room and a master bedroom with an en suite and a walk-in wardrobe.

On the lower level is a garage, living area, spare rooms, a bathroom, a laundry and, of course, the indoor pool on the northern side. The pool space has a roof that can be opened or closed at will and bi-fold doors, which transform it into an outdoor pool when desired.

The owners wanted a home that blended to its environment, situated nearby to the beach. The team at Graeme Alexander Homes went above and beyond to achieve this; incorporating ironbark finishes and windows with a low pitched roof to create the home’s soft lines.
