A REVOLUTIONARY DESIGN
This recent project from Drake Design exemplifies high-end townhouse living, designed to optimise its site while delivering a sophisticated, modern aesthetic. The brief called for house-sized, medium-density homes that not only suit current market expectations but also meet the evolving planning framework introduced by the state government. With large footprints and a layout that feels more akin to a home than a townhouse, the design takes full advantage of the recent VC288 amendments.
These changes, including the fast-tracked VicSmart assessment process, enable efficient approvals for two-lot subdivisions and dual-occupancy developments. By meeting all relevant planning controls from the outset, this project was able to progress quickly through the system while still adhering to design and neighbourhood character standards. Located in a well-connected area, the homes reflect a contemporary classic look – blending timeless design with modern practicality – offering an ideal solution to growing housing demand in established suburbs
