D3 Project 4
This outstanding home was designed by David Thomas of D3. Blending seamlessly into the natural topography of the site with its low-profile siting, the home is bright and open and – thanks to its clever design – receives abundant natural light. Inspired by glamorous 1970s Hollywood homes, the project is a showcase of exceptional contemporary design. The living spaces integrate seamlessly with the pool and alfresco areas, while clean lines and a natural colour palette result in a strong yet understated style statement. With separate areas for children and adults to relax and entertain friends, as well as a central communal space that links with the alfresco area and pool, the home caters perfectly to modern family life.
Boasting solar power, solar pool heating, an innovative and highly efficient in-slab heating system, double-glazing and Argon-filled windows throughout, the home illustrates that environmentally friendly design can be as stunning and practical as traditional methods. D3 specialises in high-end residential design, town planning and documentation. This expertise was valuable for this project, which required the company and clients to overcome town planning challenges. David Thomas established D3 more than ten years ago. Working primarily throughout the Mornington Peninsula but also available to design Melbourne-based projects, the company creates homes that are equally functional and beautiful.
