Building Under Construction Project 2

Offering soaring views of the Mornington Peninsula and glimpses of calming blue water, this stunning beach home fuses a highly architectural design with a sleek and minimalistic feeling to offer homeowners a truly elevated living experience. Designed by Rogers Architects and constructed by the reputable team at Building Under Construction, this awe-inspiring dwelling is characterised by effortless transitions from the interior to exterior spaces of the home, and includes cleverly zoned living areas to offer privacy and peace-of-mind.

Stepping inside the spacious abode, impressive timber floorboards meet the eye, while the neutral colour scheme captures an abundance of natural light and creates a bright living space. This colour palette was carefully selected to meet homeowners’ request for a modern design, that still retains and highlights a range of natural and raw materials wherever possible. Capitalising on a sensational Sorrento location, and panoramic views of nature, each bedroom within the home includes a balcony and an abundance of hidden storage within the joinery for ultimate ease-of-living.

A cantilevered balcony evokes the illusion that the home’s top floor is floating among the trees, while a range of durable and eco-friendly materials were selected to ensure the haven remains ocean-friendly and able to withstand any corrosion from the salt air.

Nothing short of an entertainer’s delight with its expansive balcony levels and beautifully landscaped garden, the home also sports James Hardie Matrix Cladding to accentuate its unique design elements and improve thermal properties within the dwelling.

Building Under Construction expertly navigated the property’s difficult soil classification by completing vast amounts of excavation and on-site preparation while creating the abode, choosing to incorporate natural materials such as re-claimed timber boards, recycled timber sleepers, and exposed structural steel to add a rustic and industrial essence to the home.

The home’s luxurious bathroom mesmerises with a sleek monochromatic colour scheme, complete with a freestanding bathtub, expansive shower and touch-pull drawers positioned underneath the basin, perfect for simple storage. The ideal retreat to unwind after a long day, this hub of all things relaxation and wellness also includes louvre-lined windows, and strategically placed LED downlighting to illuminate the room.

Aptly placed at the centre of the home, the dwelling’s kitchen fuses sleek grey joinery with matte-black overhead cabinets and tapware, while the striking brick splashback in varying monochromatic shades is an undeniable focal point and elegant addition to the kitchen’s design. A contemporary twist on tradition, the kitchen also includes capacious cupboards and ample storage space, discreetly hidden amongst the smooth and compact joinery.

Venturing downstairs via the home’s timber monorail staircase, the living quarters and comfortable bedrooms are found. Each with its own breathtaking peninsula view, a ceiling fan and plentiful storage, every bedroom carries with it an air of modern grandeur, while floor-to-ceiling windows and cavity sliding glass doors offer a resort-like experience all year round.

Replete with natural light and refined coastal elegance, this unique Building Under Construction creation is an impressive modern take on the humble beach shack – perfect for a growing family to share moments together within the home’s communal spaces, balconies and capacious backyard, while the strategically zoned bedrooms and versatile sliding doors also allow for privacy and moments of solace.
