In order to complete this striking project, which expertly achieves the homeowner’s brief, Black Door Building worked closely with designer Rod Smith Design. The client wanted a contemporary abode that would simultaneously accommodate the needs of their young family, while also providing ample entertaining space. Featuring impeccable craftsmanship and creative points of interest, the house showcases the skills of the team, while remaining practical and child-friendly.

The restored cottage exterior pays homage to the property’s heritage with a mix of materials including recycled red bricks, reinstated leadlight windows, and a white picket fence. Offering exceptional street appeal, the welcoming façade invites you into a highly spacious, newly renovated abode.

A mezzanine with glass balustrading overlooks the open-plan kitchen, living and dining zone, and keeps the room bright and airy. Skylights positioned throughout the home provide natural light where needed, while heated, polished-concrete flooring exudes opulence. The homeowner’s striking art collection adds a personal and creative touch to the aesthetic.

In order to create generously spaced interior areas without compromising on the size of the backyard, the full width of the block has been expertly utilised. Clever design also ensures a seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor zones, which allows for effortless living and entertaining.
