Better Bathrooms & Kitchens Project 11

CHANNELLING TRANQUILITY

Calmly coastal and brilliantly bespoke, this modest bathroom takes full advantage of the space available thanks to the skill and hard work of Better Bathrooms & Kitchens. While compact, the position of the bathroom appliances makes it so that homeowners have freedom of movement throughout the space, optimising personal comfort and flexibility of décor.

The situated of the room allows for natural light to stream through the windows, which can be opened and closed to moderate temperature and humidity. During the day, sunlight opens up the space thanks to the choice of tiling. The plain white porcelain makes the bathroom seem much bigger and warms the space even during winter.

Vertical heated towel racks line one side of the shower. This feature will be particularly effective during the colder Melbourne months, when it’s almost impossible to dry anything due to the constant chill in the atmosphere. Opposite are hooks if the homeowners decide to dry their towels naturally.

The stand-out feature of the bathroom is the aqua tiles featuring deliberately in both the shower and behind the floating vanity. This delightful pop of colour introduces interest into the space without being too overwhelming. The aqua complements beautifully with the white walls and beige floor and vanity, presenting an almost seaside ambiance that’s refreshing and familiar. The style of tiling is also worth noting, as its vertical placement encourages the eye upwards to where the light shines through the windows.

Positioned high for people of all shapes and sizes, the choice of showerhead is broad for full coverage and maximum comfort when bathing. The inbuilt shelf provides ease of access to products and storage, and a smaller showerhead allows for a more controlled and pleasant experience. The glass separator makes it so that there is plenty of space both in and around the shower, meaning these homeowners can enter and exit seamlessly and at their leisure.

Introducing a touch of earthy warmth into the space is the floating vanity. LED lighting is installed beneath it, brightening areas that natural light cannot reach. Its simplistic design gives options for storage while keeping clutter to a minimum. The
sleek design of the porcelain sink is deep set – a quality becoming less and less common in modern vanities.

Set above the vanity is a bespoke mirror with doors that open up on both sides. Strips of light have been built into its design so that at night homeowners can still go about their skincare routines with clarity. Its size also hides a deceptively large amount of space. Medication and skincare products can be hidden behind the mirror’s brilliant design to save on space and for a clean presentation.

From the appliances to the tiling, all aspects have been carefully considered by Better Bathrooms & Kitchens to ensure that this bathroom is appreciated and enjoyed by the homeowners for years to come.
