Graham Jones Design Project 4

SCULPTED TO SETTLE

A sculptural response to the surrounding terrain, coastal winds and evolving local aesthetic, this home exemplifies composed building forms – successfully realising functional excellence. The client desired more than just a traditional holiday home; they wanted a space that breathed with how they lived and could easily accommodate future living arrangements including semi-permanent residency, multi-generational living and work-from-home possibilities.

The design is responsive in every sense of the word – not just to future lifestyle changes but to the environment surrounding the home. Durable building materials were carefully chosen to withstand the area’s harsh coastal conditions. These include Hardwood (Silvertop Ash) shiplap cladding, Nailstrip (COLORBOND ‘Monument’) walling and Austral Masonry GB Honed (‘Porcelain’). Siting received special attention given the tree root protection zone afforded to the native tree located on an adjoining property, a challenge seamlessly overcome by the combined efforts of Graham Jones Design and SJG Building Group.

This home is a masterclass in thoughtful design – crafted not only for the present but to evolve gracefully with time, environment and the changing needs of its occupants.
