This Middle Park project presented a unique challenge: to rejuvenate a single-level Edwardian home that required tender loving care while meeting the client’s brief for increased living space. The approach balanced the need for modern functionality with a deep respect for the home’s historical integrity. The result is a seamless blend of classic and contemporary elements, with dynamic balance and harmony at its core, ensuring the home remains both luxurious and bright.

A testament to design success, the functionality of the new layout is unmistakable. The build respects the original structure by maintaining two of its original rooms, transforming the existing spaces into a central main bathroom and laundry. Additionally, the introduction of an open-plan living and kitchen area, complete with a butler’s pantry and external access, exemplifies a beautiful and functional design that accommodates both entertainment and everyday family life.

One of the critical design considerations was to ensure the second-story addition complemented rather than overshadowed the traditional features of the home’s facade. This was adeptly achieved by positioning the addition at the rear, preserving the Edwardian home’s street view and character. This strategic placement underscores the team’s commitment to enhancing the home’s value and aesthetic appeal while respecting its historical significance.
