Barn Light Australia Project 2

A WARM AND WELCOMING GLOW

The team at Barn Light Australia recently lent their talents to a restoration project led by Mable Projects. Aptly named ‘Jackaroo cottage’, this classically Australian house uses repurposed and recycled materials from the surrounding area, including rusted corrugated sheets as exterior cladding and timber from an old stock yard as exterior window architraves. In keeping with this idea, the quality materials used by Barn Light Australia were sourced and made locally, then spun by hand in the company’s Melbourne workshop. This helps the cottage blend in with the surrounding landscape and the barn light style is suitably rustic in its appearance.

Several Old Dixie chain-hung pendants hang from the exposed rafters and beams in the kitchen and living areas to create a welcoming space, and the warm glow that they emit expertly melds with the golden and wooden features of the cottage. Corded cage pendants were also used to highlight certain areas that need more light, such as the dining room table and the interior wood stack. Externally, the same Old Dixie shaped pendants were used for the light fittings and were attached to the walls by a gooseneck arm which adds to the feature’s classic, countrified style.
