A TAPESTRY OF BRICK IN AUTUMN HUES

PREMIUM BRICKS AND PAVERS

Autumn in Melbourne is truly spectacular. These beautiful homes in Daniel Robertson’s crafted Roman bricks reflect the seasonal tones of the leaves in their surrounds.

In a picturesque Melbourne street lined with plane trees in full autumn bloom, Daniel Robertson’s bricks appear like a woven tapestry reflecting the full range of autumnal tones in the leaves that surround.

Daniel Robertson, makers of clay bricks, pavers and tiles, have been supplying the building industry for over 150 years. Their Roman brick range was developed when clients noticed that the bricks in ancient buildings in Europe and in old English estates were slimmer than the Australian brick.

At only 50mm in height, the Roman brick is thinner than the Australian standard 75mm. This brick appears longer and enhances the horizontal dimensions of a building, anchoring a newly built home. In addition, the use of this brick allows ceiling heights to be maximised when the building may otherwise look too upright with a standard brick. To the eye, the slimmer brick blend appears to have more colour variation because, being slimmer, there are more Roman bricks per square metre in the finished wall.

Daniel Robertson is renowned for producing old-style bricks with an aged character sought by many discerning clients. Robertson’s clay bricks, in both the Roman and standard ranges, are fired for tonal variation and have a textured rustic face. Before delivery, the bricks are hand sorted into packs to ensure the correct balance of tones appear in the finished wall. Hand sorting enables Daniel Robertson to custom blend bricks to clients’ requests. Daniel Robertson also produce a range of matching Rustic paving and complementary terracotta paving tiles.

Established in 1853, this family owned business has been supplying the building industry for over 155 years. Many of Melbourne’s finest homes have been built with Daniel Robertson’s bricks.
