Cycas Landscape Design has been providing landscape design services for over 25 years. During that time, they have designed gardens on some of the finest residences in Melbourne, many of which have excelled at various housing industry awards over the years.

They offer a comprehensive design and consultancy service from initial conceptual development through to detailed plans for construction. Along with landscape design, they also incorporate a number of other services including material selection advice and sourcing, plant brokerage, and project management.

Set on two hectares in the midst of a luscious vineyard, this featured garden was designed in 2006 in Shoreham on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula. Working in conjunction with Kiama Landscapes, who constructed the garden, Cycas Landscape Design designed this garden with a mix of native and exotic plantings to complement the existing landscape.

The vertical walling boasts a strong visual impact, created out of recycled Ironbark sleepers, and integrates seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment. Sawn bluestone paving was included in the design, and locally sourced boulders and rubble complete the look.

Their name, Cycas, stems from the botanical name for cycad, a plant with prehistoric ancestry and timeless architectural strength and grace, which perfectly fits their style and reputation.

Their reputation as brilliant landscape designers has been enhanced by winning silver medals at the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, as well as the W.A. Comeadow Gold Award for Outstanding Design in 2004.

A new courtyard category at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in 2008 provided Cycas Landscape Design the opportunity to present a small space garden, featuring a delicate balance between hard landscape surfaces, and sculptural and architectural elements with sensible and sustainable plantings. The ‘City Courtyard’ was awarded a gold medal.

At the prestigious 2007 Chelsea Flower Show in London, Cycas Landscape Design teamed up with Flemings Nurseries and Kiama Landscapes to design and construct the Flemings and Trailfinders Australian Garden. The garden showcased Melbourne culture, outdoor living and architecture, while highlighting the need for trees in the urban landscape. All materials used in the construction were shipped from Melbourne, whilst plants were sourced in the UK, Italy and Spain. The garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt in the show garden category; the second highest award available.

Most recently at the 2010 National HIA awards, a Cycas Landscape Design garden featured in the Australian Home of the Year constructed by Atkinson Pontifex and designed by Peter Maddison. Located in Beaumaris, Victoria, the landscape included predominated indigenous plantings to complement the distinct architectural style of the home.

Their award winning designs all show that Cycas Landscape Design is fast emerging as Melbourne’s most sought after creator of luxury outdoor living solutions. Whatever the project, this award winning business will continue to astound and delight its clients with the breathtaking design and superior craftsmanship of truly exceptional landscape creations.
