DESIGNERS OF MELBOURNE’S FINEST TENNIS COURTS Tennis courts are becoming the preferred option for large outdoor living spaces adding fun and entertainment that can be enjoyed with personalised accessories which may include a basketball tower, a rebound net, golf hole, volley ball, badminton, cricket pitch or even a soccer goal. The featured project was constructed next to a two-storey home on a large and leafy double block in the heart of the Bellbird precinct. Due to the significant landscape overlay on the property, the tennis court area was constructed using concrete with a porous asphalt top layer on a crushed rock base. This combination of materials creates a permeable surface to the outer edges of the tennis court, allowing for adequate draining suitable for root growth for the trees surrounding the tennis court. The tennis court was installed with Ultrasurface 19mm synthetic grass. This commercial grade synthetic grass is manufactured specifically for Ultracourts and was applied to the concrete and asphalt base and filled with white silica sand. Black powder-coated posts and chain wire fencing contain the court on two sides with a draw curtain on the house side. One end leads to a gazebo and entertaining area which is enhanced by a well-designed and established garden keeping to the indigenous type of flora of the Bellbird area. The outdoor area is lit with four 1000 watt environmental metal halide lights erected on black powder-coated square towers. Accessories for the court include two golf putting holes and a heavy-duty basketball tower with perspex backboard, ring and net installed on the fence line.
