THREE TIMES A WINNER

Lindsay Williams of Mint Kitchen Group was the proud winner of Best Small Kitchen Design Victoria/Tasmania at this year’s Kitchen & Bathroom Design Institute (KBDi) awards with this stunning and highly functional kitchen.

This is the third KBDi design award Williams has won in as many years bringing Mint Kitchen Group’s total awards tally to 61 in seven years.

The clients requested a stylish and contemporary kitchen that would complement the architectural elements of their home. Featuring a windowed cathedral ceiling and central staircase, the house needed a kitchen design that would look great from the stairwell view and provide a focal point for the living areas.

Meeting all these needs, the new kitchen features a large pantry and an appliance cupboard with bi-fold doors. To create the contemporary look, the body of the kitchen is finished in a warm light grey gloss two-pack paint, complemented by white reconstituted quartz benchtops featuring a pearly shell fleck.

The bright red splashback brings the kitchen to life by providing an exciting counterpoint in an otherwise muted colour palette.

GLORIOUS GLASS INSTALLATIONS

Paul Murphy of paul.M has completed yet another stunning commercial project, cementing the company’s reputation as an expert in printed glass installations.

Plus Architecture approached paul.M to create a backlit glass feature wall for the entrance foyer to Harbour 1 apartments in Docklands.

paul.M then worked with Brookfield Multiplex and Plus Architecture to complete the extraordinary printed glass project.

The result was 12mm toughened printed glass with a backlit matrix system of LED lights. The large panels of glass were designed and constructed to conceal the mailboxes in the entrance foyer of the apartment building.

BUILT FOR SUCCESS

Rycon Building Group was the proud recipient of the Master Builders Association Victoria (MBAV) award for Best Custom Home Between $500,000–$600,000 in 2011.

Situated in Balwyn, the award-winning home is a modern take on a traditional weatherboard. Featuring an open-plan design that includes a large kitchen and living area, the spacious entertainment area opens onto a front balcony, providing a perfect vantage point of the lush surrounds.

The real triumph, however, was Rycon Building Group’s ability to create a stunning home on a difficult block. The sloping site was situated at the end of a narrow unsealed road, making the construction process a tricky task.

With some help from the architect, Peter Jackson, Rycon Building Group rose to the challenge to create a unique, award-winning home.
