Designed and built by Lockstar Homes, The Albatross is a display home overlooking the Mildura Golf Club Resort that not only makes a bold statement as a home but is also welcoming. The square stone pillars, timber and render, alongside tones of mocha and grey combined with Merbau decking and wide eaves, lend a tropical feel to the building.

From the moment you step through the door, this home exudes luxury. Massive double-height windows tower above the timber and clear glazed front door, letting light flood in while also giving a hint of what is hidden inside. Upon entry, the home features a dramatic, 25-light crystal chandelier and a stunning staircase – using Brazilian quartz stone, timber treads and glass – that leads to the upper level.

On the lower level, there is a generous study with double-glazed French doors that open out onto the Merbau deck. A mural stonewall feature defines the room and brings the natural tones of the outside into the space.

The Brazilian quartz stone entrance then moves into beautiful Sydney Blue Gum floorboards that disappear into the rear living space. Mocha textured carpets feature throughout the house and are carefully contrasted with simple white paintwork. There is a downstairs formal living area perfect for either entertaining or simply relaxing.

It is a home that uses every inch of space and light to create clever solutions to suit modern living, from the carefully positioned under-stair cellar, to the laundry that is designed to be as stylish as it is functional. It includes rich battalion-grey, high-gloss cabinetry, which contrasts with the essastone benches in sorbet and the crystal beige tiled splashback.

The internal space flows through to an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room space that is as stunning as it is clever. An entertainer’s delight, the sliding doors open and hide away in the wall cavity, creating an indoor/outdoor living space. Essastone French black benches make an impact in the kitchen and pantry, complemented by mirrortoned, self-closing cabinetry in a combination of ash white and metallic charcoal with a Victorian ash column bulkhead framing the island bench.

A tranquil, vertical green garden feature wall frames the view from the kitchen sink. This area is finished off with a mirrored splashback, fully-integrated dishwasher, pull-out bin drawer and recessed Sink Mate to make this kitchen sleek and streamlined. If you move outside, there is a solar-heated pool that fits snugly into the low-maintenance garden area.

As you venture to the upper level, this house will not disappoint. From the moment you climb the stairs, you’re struck by the feeling of space, with large windows opening up to make it feel airy and spacious.

At the top of the stairs, the main bedroom overlooks views of the surrounding golf course. From featured wallpaper to a well-appointed walk-in-wardrobe and ensuite, the designs in this room are stunning. The classic, dark tones that are used throughout are introduced with black feature tiles, essastone ‘Midnight Rendezvous’ benches and crystal gloss floating cabinets in ‘Seductive Limba’, as well as overhead mirrored cabinets that contrast beautifully with the use of crystal beige tiles in the ensuite. There are two queen-sized bedrooms with built-in-robes and a living area that is an ideal play or TV room for children.

A soft, contoured freestanding bath with views and feature lighting, a floating vanity, essastone benches, heated towel rails and a porcelain floor, wall and shower tiles make up the bathroom. However, this is no ordinary bathroom, as there is no better place to relax as you overlook views of the golf course.

There are many things that make this house a home, but what stands out the most is the considered design and the attention to detail. The strip and accent lighting are gorgeous, with shadow lines flush and integrated with recessed fittings to give the home a modern feel. Discreet, flexible storage, a large garage and a functional kitchen are all lasting features that make this a home, well after the shine of the latest fad has worn off.
