A LUXURIOUS COASTAL HAVEN RESORT LIVING AT ITS FINEST For this project, Sheridan Building Services’ clients sought a sumptuous home that epitomised resort-style living. Nestled into the sand dunes of a seaside town, the home covers a large portion of the double block it is situated on, yet it does not dominate the streetscape due to the use of mixed textures, natural materials and multiple rooflines. This material selection has ensured the home blends with the surrounding environment and stands out for the right reasons. Sheridan Building Services used wide eaves with exposed rafter rails, turret-style rooflines and a Balinese-inspired portico to create the resort theme. Grey ironbark, Mt Gambier limestone, travertine tiles and exposed aggregate concrete were selected to enhance the tropical beauty of the home. The home’s focal point, the protected central courtyard, was designed to cope with local climate conditions and accommodate the clients’ longing for comfortable outdoor living year-round. Encompassing a large area with its own kitchen, a swimming pool, LCD television and integrated sound system, this space beautifully fulfils the clients’ brief for resort quality luxury in their own back yard. Indoors is equally impressive. The kitchen, which has been designed for entertaining, features a butler’s pantry with a walk-in cool room, integrated steamer, microwave and dishwasher. It also has a concealed doggy door in the cabinetry, a unique benchtop with two contrasting stone colours, LED lighting and under-floor heating. The home theatre has an automated projection screen and lighting, as well as a coffered ceiling and recessed LED lights. All bedrooms have built-in cabinetry with integrated desks and generous wardrobes. By dividing the home into two wings, the teenagers can access their own garage, entertainment areas and bedrooms while the clients can enjoy peace and privacy in their part of the home.
