SLOPING BLOCK EXPERTS MAKING BUILDING SIMPLER Never shying away from a challenge, Rycon Building Group specialises in constructing homes other building companies prefer to steer clear of. Specialising in sloping blocks and difficult sites, Rycon Building Group overcomes these natural hurdles and proves time and again to be a team of true building professionals. The secret to Rycon Building Group’s success is to work with the block rather than against it, turning obstacles into opportunities and creating spectacular homes in the process. This featured home is a fresh and modern take on the classic weatherboard home. It benefits from an open-plan design which allows for a spacious kitchen and living and entertaining area, which opens up onto a front balcony and alfresco dining space. The clients approached Rycon Building Group wanting a classic but contemporary home that was suitable for family living. Using an autumn-inspired colour palette and natural grade Australian chestnut flooring with gloss finish, Rycon Building Group was able to create a home that generated both warmth and comfort. This classic home has been built with significant attention paid to the finer details, with decorative cornices and ornate fittings throughout. The elaborate light fittings, which range from small chandeliers to hanging pendant lights, add a classic and stylish touch to the home. Built over three levels, the house provides spectacular wilderness views, with the design incorporating high ceilings and expansive windows towards the front to make the most of the natural light and aspect. The house exceeds 5-star energy requirements, utilising high R value insulation and rain water tanks within its sustainable living design. The water tanks connect to all toilets and a Davey rain bank pump system was also installed to ensure a constant supply of water. The house is located on a site that proved a considerable – but not insurmountable – challenge for the team at Rycon Building Group. Located on a very steep slope, the house site was also situated at the end of a narrow unmade road, which made access to the site difficult. Working closely with the architect, Peter Jackson, Rycon Building Group used a clever split-level design to accommodate for the slope and persevered despite the challenges to create a home unique in its appeal. Based in Blackburn, Rycon Building Group builds right across Melbourne, constructing around 30 homes a year. The company prides itself on its ability to develop strong two-way working relationships with clients, ensuring every dream home built is a collaborative effort from the beginning. Before establishing Rycon Building Group in 2007, Ryan McKenzie and his dedicated team had worked in the building industry for well over a decade. Now, Rycon Building Group’s clients benefit from this invaluable wealth of experience, as well as a fresh approach to producing quality homes. CONTACT |
