The modern home is located on a corner block in an inner-city suburb, requiring the designers to develop a design that was sympathetic to the difficulties of the site. It was important the house maximised the available space while meeting the everyday living requirements of a growing family. Renmark Homes also had to comply with stringent planning controls. With this design, the company has successfully created a home that fits neatly on a 630m² block with ample back yard space. The finished result offers maximum living space, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, three living areas, and a double garage; quite a feat for a small suburban block! This clever use of space was achieved through split-level design. By building upwards and also utilising space below, Renmark Homes created a basement level that houses a guest room and bathroom. A large laundry and utility room are located off the garage. The most has been made of the block by implementing cantilevered floors, which allows multiple living areas on the main floor, defining each area with a change in level. The house also has a 5-star energy-efficient rating and features solar heated hot water, good solar orientation and a 3000 litre water tank.
