COMPLEX HOME DESIGN SPECIALISTS A YOUNG AND INNOVATIVE TEAM This project was an extension and renovation to an existing Victorian terrace house. Part of the works included incorporating in-slab hydronic heating in the new extension and hydronic panels to the first floor and existing home. A Jetmaster fireplace, timber veneer joinery, Harper Sandilands engineered timber flooring in the existing hallways, a new family living area and a feature staircase wall were also added as part of the extension and renovation. The extension and renovation was designed by Ramon Pleysier of Pleysier Perkins, and constructed by Kleev Homes. With both the architect and builder committed to ensuring close attention to detail was paid to every part of the project, it was seamlessly executed and looks utterly stunning. The finishing touches in the home include P50 plaster details, a travertine stone hearth, and feature stucco rendered walls internally and externally along the adjoining laneway and neighbouring convent. An underground water tank allows for the newly landscaped gardens to be well-maintained and watered. The brief supplied to the architect was for open-plan living involving the rear garden and house so the clients could watch their young children playing. Numerous meetings took place between Pleysier Perkins, Kleev Homes and the clients, well before the project began on-site. Kleev Homes was involved in the design of the project from a very early stage, which allowed them to cater to all the clients’ requirements and complete them to a high standard. Several design difficulties were encountered when creating the home, which included taking into account the neighbouring convent and church – which has been beautifully accommodated and now includes views of the amazing church building from the rear living area and main bedroom – and ensuring there was great architectural detailing in every aspect of the extension and the revamp of the existing home. The home has also been fitted with energy-efficient appliances, including an underground water tank that is plumbed back to the house for the laundry and toilets and for watering the garden. Insulation under the concrete slab was incorporated to prevent heat loss in winter, and the house is also pre-wired for future solar installation. This home is the new full-time residence of Kleev Homes’ clients, who were nearing retirement when the house was built. The beautiful home boasts a unique appearance, as well as a highly functional design, with a vast north-facing main living area, extensive double-glazed windows and an external feature stone blade wall that runs through the entrance and down the centre of the house, creating a striking, distinctive entry. The architect for the project was Kel Greenway of Greenway Hirst Page.
