They also wanted to ensure there was plenty of light admitted to the home to minimise the need for artificial heating. In response to this brief, Bluewater Master Builders built the 30-square brick veneer home with double-glazed north-facing windows and hydronic heating (a recirculated hot water heating system). Built on a polished concrete slab, the home has quality fittings and fixtures as well as efficient thermal qualities. A H2gro greywater system with a large underground water tank has been installed, the home has full wall and ceiling insulation, the feature lighting has energy efficient globes, and a solar hot water system has been included. Other standout features include the custom-designed gourmet kitchen, high level of attention to detail throughout the entire home and the range of quality products used, including a ColorBond roof, aluminium windows and hardwood flooring. The allotment was bought with a town planning permit in place, which meant the original outline of the dwelling had to be complied with. Excavation difficulties were encountered on the eastern boundary, but the company overcame this and the other site challenges to provide the family with an attractive, sustainable and practical home.
