MODERN TRANQUILLITY

OPEN-PLAN LIVING AT ITS FINEST

This stunning two-storey, four-bedroom courtyard home by Art nouveau Homes was awarded the 2015 Housing industry Association (HiA) Csr award for Victorian Home of the Year.

The company aimed to design a modern yet timeless home, providing a relaxed and tranquil environment in melbourne’s inner-bayside area.

Inspired by the modernist era, this home features vast open-plan living, dining, family, and kitchen areas. sheer walls of glass open onto outdoor entertainment areas and allow beautiful, private views from every window of the mature gardens, rockeries, water features, and the pool.

In order to make the home feel more natural, Art nouveau Homes used exotic timbers extensively throughout the house. French oak floorboards, timber-blade room dividers, recycled timber benchtops, and the floating timber staircase add to the naturalist feel of the design.

Cantilevered roofs covering the entry and garage help set the scene upon approaching the home; ensuring the open- plan speciousness of the home is evident straight away.

Art nouveau Homes has optimised utilisation of natural light by positioning the living areas according to the presence of sunlight throughout the day, helping the home to appear brighter. The floor-to-ceiling glass walls provide an endless stream of natural light and air to all living areas.

A highlight of the design is the inclusion of numerous courtyards throughout, incorporating mature plants and trees to achieve a seamless integration between the internal and external zones.

The main bedroom, complete with an ensuite, maintains a northern and western exposure that allows views to the pool and courtyard. due to its positioning at the rear of the home, a private courtyard was able to be created featuring lush greenery, large boulders, and an outdoor shower.

Upstairs, a kitchenette and second study area sit adjacent to a large rumpus room and private balcony. The first-floor living zones include a kitchenette and outdoor area. A counterpoint to the rest of the design, this space complements, rather than disrupts from the open-plan design of the rest of the house.

With a study, state-of-the-art kitchen and a fully-equipped butler’s pantry, as well as an indoor gym and automation system, this truly is the home that has it all.

It’s easy to see why Art nouveau Homes’ workmanship and attention to detail was highly commended by the HiA judges.

The multi-award-winning boutique builder has more than 20 years of experience in building and renovating homes in melbourne. more recently, the company has also won the 2015 HIA CSR Victorian best spec Home, and was a finalist for the 2015 bayside built environment Awards for best new building.
