Art House Custom Projects designed and constructed this Blackburn residence with meticulous attention to detail. Inside the limestone-cladded house, large feature windows provide abundant natural light. Additionally, a range of unique lighting fixtures and LED lights have been installed to create a cohesive and pleasant lighting scheme throughout the house. Upstairs comprises five bedrooms, all with ensuites, which provides plenty of space and flexibility for a large family.

The clients’ brief called for a Tuscan-style house that would utilise the practical and aesthetic benefits of natural stone and timber. Art House Custom Projects met these needs by utilising limestone block cladding for the home’s façade, which provides a unique and appealing street presence. Timber floorboards have been used to great effect internally as well as for wall cladding.

The theme of natural materials extends throughout the entire house: bluestone has been used to create a staircase and to line an outdoor pond. Elsewhere, a cobblestone driveway leads the way to the home, where exterior windows have been lined with Merbau wood.

Juxtaposed with the classic style of the house are its many modern features, including hydronic and ducted heating, refrigerated cooling, an alarm system, solar panels, and electric gates.

Being situated on a subdivision, Art House Custom Projects had to maximise the available space. The resulting double-storey design represents smart design – it has been set as close as possible to the boundaries, while still leaving a sizeable area for landscaping.

The home features a large laundry and a spacious open-plan kitchen and meals area, complete with Miele appliances and unique timber-stamped tiles. Luxury additions to the property include a gymnasium, home cinema, billiards room, and a four-car garage with a design studio.

The home cinema contains a fully-integrated audio-visual system and creates a distinctive feature in the house with its circular design and slate roof.

The garage is a highlight of the home with its one-of-a-kind hand-drawn ‘barn’ door, polished concrete with exposed aggregate, and striking green glass shards.

The home meets the requirements for a 6-star energy rating with the inclusion of a 5 kW solar electricity system, separate solar hot water system, and a water storage tank.

The company specialises in executive homes, specifically focusing on the investor market. Art House Custom Projects works predominately in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and along the Mornington peninsula. The company builds up to 15 homes a year, which allows it to focus on each project and provide the highest-quality build and design services.
